My Obsession with Matcha - Is it for you?!

Just. Plain. HEAVENLY.

It’s evident I love Matcha!! But is it for you??

Let's talk about this long love affair with my matcha lattes. If you've been following me on instagram (+ if you're not yet, you should!! Check out -->>@jessboan21), you've seen all too many matcha stories. #sorrynotsorry

I'm in love, what can I say?!

I look forward to these little slices of heaven probably a little more than what's considered normal. But that's also what I love MOST about my matcha lattes. I love that something this small can just make my day, put me more at ease, and make my world feel luxurious! All in one little cup!

I can't wait to share with you why I prefer this over coffee (maybe you'll agree), how to make it exceptionally delish, + all the amazing benefits that come with.

So besides its un-denying beauty, what's this stuff all about?

WHAT IT IS

If you drink tea, you know that it's made by infusing the tea leaves in hot water. Matcha is green tea leaves finely ground into that vibrant, alive, green powder. So you are actually consuming the whole leaf.

THE JUICY BENEFITS

Since you are drinking the actual leaves with matcha, you get all the benefits of green tea, times a million! Matcha has a super high amount of antioxidants + chlorophyll - which helps stress in the body, inflammation (which is a trigger to premature aging + disease), regulating blood sugar, detoxing, and reducing cortisol (the stress hormone linked to belly fat) <-- Heck yeah!

Another antioxidant in matcha called EGCG has been shown to boost your metabolism and even slow down the growth of cancer cells. (Anyone sold yet?!)

Since you are consuming whole leaves with matcha, you're actually getting over 3x the caffeine of green tea, or about the same as 1 cup of coffee. Coffee can give you that quick spike in energy + alertness (with a side of jitters), but then you often crash. With matcha, you get the alert but calm zen about you. This is because it's absorbed into your system slower than the coffee jolt. So you get that alert, but calm feeling with no drowsiness.

And if you're looking to be a bit more kind to your adrenals and stress hormones, matcha is a great substitute or alternative to coffee.

Matcha has helped me SLOW DOWN and appreciate the little things. And when you slow down, you slow down your stress response - which can decrease that stress hormone, cortisol - a stress hormone linked to increase in appetite and belly fat. Umm, yes please!

I'm just trying to spread the Matcha love! And I think you'll love YOU when you experience some of these amazing benefits.

MAKE IT HAPPEN

If you want to make this matcha latte a reality, I'll give you a base recipe, plus the exact recipe I use!

I will warn you that not all matcha is made equally!! Look for organic and make sure sugar and powered milk are not the in the ingredient list.

I use Vital Proteins Matcha Collagen, but Matchaful is an excellent brand to use (and you can just add your collagen).

Tips for drinking:

Matcha can taste a little earthy. So you might want to start with a little sweetener like a natural honey or syrup.

Here's your basic matcha latte recipe:

1/2 c. H2O

1/2 c. clean almond milk (I love the Three Trees brand)

1/2 tsp Matcha (Matchaful is a great brand)

1 serving Collagen

Dash of turmeric

Few dashes of cinnamon

1/2 tsp maple syrup or honey

Heat up water and almond milk. Once hot, pour over matcha, collagen, cinnamon, + turmeric.

Blend on high for 30 sec and enjoy the smooth, frothy goodness!!

My EXACT recipe (that I’ve been perfecting for a year!):

1/2 c. H2O

1/2 c. Three Trees Almond Milk

1.5 scoops of Matcha Collagen (I buy this one)

Dash of turmeric

Dash of cinnamon

Small piece of Cacao Butter (Amazon Purchase)

1/4 tsp Ashwagandha Adaptogen

Optional:

1 tsp MCT oil

Small piece of cacao butter

1/4 tsp Ashwagandha adaptogen for balancing hormones (start w/small dose + can built up according to your tolerance)

1/2 tsp maple syrup or honey

Have fun with it and see what you like!
